Top 3 Benefits Of Chiropractic Care For Runners (No one talks about the 2nd)

We are at the finish line of 2022 and will be making new years resolutions before you know it.

I know that the main resolutions we hear in the office have to do with health and fitness, so we thought we would write a short blog discussing how chiropractic care helps with running.

Can Chiropractic Care help with running?

Yes, Chiropractors can help with several aspects of running. The three major aspects that chiropractic care supports are mobility, structural integrity, and increasing the speed of recovery.

At our Sacramento Chiropractic clinic, we help have helped people who couldn’t even run be able to again.

Our friend James (shown on video) was even able to start running again after a car accident.

Chiropractic care can help athletes improve their running.

What is shocking is that it can help ALSO help people who lost the ability to run regain it AGAIN.

Although Chiropractic Care improves performance, another key benefit is actually injury prevention.

A study published by yalemedicine.org presented an alarming statistic: “at least 50 percent of regular runners get hurt each year—some estimates put the percentage even higher—sometimes from trauma, such as a fall, but more often from overuse.”

The obvious and more important solution is to exercise carefully.

However, it may be also beneficial to consider committing to chiropractic care.

Top 3 Benefits Of Chiropractic Care For Runners (and endurance athletes)

Increase Mobility WITHOUT Hours of Stretching
(May increase speed)

Adjustments can help your joints, hip and back have better flexibility and movement. A study published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information found evidence that a chiropractic treatment regimen increased mobility in the hips over time.

By improving your range of motion chiropractic adjustments may indirectly benefit a runner's gait and run time.

Chiropractors can not guarantee that adjustments will increase your speed. Frankly, there are too many other factors involved in building speed to make that claim. However, an increased range of motion can help you take bigger strides and (with a good training regiment, recovery routine, and diet) can help you run faster.

The best part is, that Chiropractic Care saves you time on stretching and provides many more health benefits that can support your running regimen.

Structural Integrity (Shocking effect on endurance)

Having your body in alignment can help reduce the likelihood of injury.

Most people do not understand that, when we run, our body perceives the stress as more than our body weight. Every step causes the body to bounce and place significant strain on the hips, bones, and connective tissues.

By making sure the spine and hips and bones are in alignment. Chiropractors can make sure that all of the bones and tissues are in the optimal position to best handle the cumulative stress.

This effect becomes significant with endurance athletes. The longer you run the more likely you are to exhaust the muscles that protect connective tissues. This means that your body will be relying on your structural integrity (The bones and ligaments being in the best position to manage the stress) to prevent injury.

Save Time on Recovery (The faster you recover the faster you improve)

Chiropractic care can save you time with stretching, but it can also save time with recovery.

Chiropractic care increases the body’s natural ability to recover because it helps circulation.

By realigning the spine, chiropractors allow the nervous system to work optimally and that directly affects your circulatory system.

This means that the statistic about 50% of runners being injured every year, may be less intimidating if you are less likely to be injured and recover from small injuries faster.

Our friend Eric, (On the video) has had amazing progress with his mobility and recovery. We appreciate his service to our country and absolutely love that he is able to keep running pain free.
