Barham chiropractic helps athletes.

Athletes.

Please do not wait until you are injured to get care.

Athletes (especially endurance athletes) should strongly consider getting chiropractic care. At our Sacramento Chiropractic clinic, we have helped countless athletes and continue to do so daily.

Often preventative care helps athletes reach new personal records and prevent injury.

Unfortunately, sometimes our athletes get injured and we have to help with that too.

Below we will discuss common sports injuries and how we take care of our athletes.

Thanks in advance for checking out our blog, it should be about a 5-minute read.

Most common sports injuries

Sports injuries are an unfortunate reality of participating in physical activities. Athletes of all levels and of all ages suffer from sports-related injuries, ranging from minor muscle strains to major catastrophic injuries. The most common injuries are strains and sprains. Luckily chiropractic care can help athletes recover from strains and sprains faster and WITHOUT medication.

How Chiropractors Can Address These injuries

The easiest way to remember the difference between a sprain and a strain is the following:

Strains typically happen when you over-train. They are muscular injuries often caused by over-training.

Sprains usually happen when you’re playing, when you are competing you may be pushing past limits and have an accident. Sprains are ligament injuries that happen from falls or rolled ankles or things of that nature.

Chiropractors help increase mobility and also help increase blood flow.

Increasing mobility decreases the likelihood of sprains and increased blood flow allows you to recover faster from strains.

How long does it take for chiropractic care to help sports injuries?

If the sports injury is relatively mild you may see significant pain relief as soon as the first visit. However, more severe injuries may require more work and even medical intervention. Chiropractors should feel very comfortable letting people know when injuries require medical attention and gladly refer them to hospitals and doctors. There are some sports injuries that cause subluxations, these injuries typically have the most improvement from chiropractic care.
